A feature that is familiar in all of my work is the narrative values it possesses. The majority of images I produce have an illustrative quality, whether or not they are accompanied by text.
I mainly work in ink, primarily drawing in a linear or cross-hatched style, although I also work in collage, gouache, pencil and computer technology in conjunction with these.
My recent work concerns the use of greeting cards as the basis for creating digital prints. By using the medium I feel that my work is able to reach a wider audience.
I am able to challenge the traditional notion of what a card should be- as they are usually sent to celebrate an occasion (in this case, Christmas), I decided to twist this idea of producing cards which bemoan and complain about the event in question, or just taking away it s meaning by including my thumb or bees, making it more trivial.
In short, it’ s a bit of fun. It isn't a statement on how Christmas has lost it’s true meaning or anything like that. It just made me laugh.
