FRED on FlickrA selection of photos of FRED 2007 can now be seen on Flickr. Most of the images were taken by our commissioned photographer Tony West. We've also set up a group album for anyone else to add their own best of FRED photos from this or any other year. There's an online discussion board where you can debate the merits of FRED and you can even comment on our favourite FRED pieces. It's free to use, you just need to sign up to Flickr and start uploading your photos. |

FRED 200728th September - 14th OctoberEighteen thousand sandcastles on St Bees beach, models of iconic buildings made from sheep droppings and twigs, and a light installation under Coniston Water were all part of this year’s FRED. From Sept 28-Oct 14 Cumbria hosted Europe's biggest outdoor art show, turning its forests, paths, lakes, mountains and coast into a giant al fresco gallery. This year we had the best part of 80 artists and 43 projects in 50+ locations across the length and breadth of England’s largest and most rural county. |

Art 24/7Rural HayvendFold is host to Cumbria’s first Hayvend machine. The bright yellow art vending machine gives people the opportunity to buy art multiples for very little money. Each box of work costs £2 and they are mixed together and sold randomly in the reclaimed sanitary towel vending machines. Fold’s Hayvend machine, apart from being the most remote location, is also the first 24-hour model. Not only can visitors to the upper Eden town get access to affordable contemporary art without traveling to the Baltic in Gateshead, or the Tate gallery in London, but they can also buy it at anytime of day or night! see the Hayvend website for more information.. |

... art & other stuffThis year promises to be just as good as last years - and then some. Expect to see more FRED, more rural artists doing amazing things, topical art, tup-ical art and some no-so-subtle guerilla tactics. For the first time we are also venturing outside Cumbria and crossing the border into the North East of England. We will be extending our community and education programmes to enable more people from more areas the opportunity to get their hands dirty and get involved with creating exciting contemporary work. Our key theme this year is sustainability and we are joining up with other exciting projects, like DOTT to get things moving. A new monthly newsletter is on the cards to keep you posted with our projects and those of other like-minded people around the world. 99% of the world is still rural! If you want to get involved with Fold and any of its projects, please get in touch. |
